What Is Memorial Jewellery?

Memorial jewellery is a way of keeping someone you love close, long after they’re gone.

It’s jewellery made to hold a small keepsake such as ashes, hair, fur, fabric, flowers, fingerprints or handwriting. Worn as a ring, pendant, bracelet or charm, it becomes part of your everyday life. Something you can touch, see and feel. Not stored away. Not hidden. Just there, when you need it.

For many people, it’s not about “moving on.”
It’s about staying connected.

What is memorial jewellery used for?

People choose memorial jewellery for many reasons. Often it’s after a loss, but not always. Some mark a milestone. Others celebrate a bond that still exists. Some simply want a physical reminder of someone who matters to them.

Memorial jewellery can help:

• Bring comfort during difficult days
• Create a sense of closeness
• Honour a relationship
• Turn memory into something tangible

It’s personal. Quiet. Individual.

What can be put into memorial jewellery?

One of the most common questions we’re asked is what can actually be used. Memorial jewellery can hold:

• Cremation ashes
• Hair or pet fur
• Fabric from clothing or blankets
• Dried flowers
• Fingerprints
• Handwriting or signatures

Some people choose one element.
Others combine a few.
There’s no rulebook, only what feels right to you.

Is memorial jewellery only for bereavement?

Not at all.

While many people choose ashes jewellery after losing someone, memorial jewellery can also be created for:

• A living pet
• A parent or grandparent
• A child
• A partner
• A moment you want to mark

Memory isn’t only about loss.
It’s about love, history and connection.

How is memorial jewellery made?

At Memory Within, every piece is handcrafted in our small rural Scottish studio.

No factories.
No production lines.

Just careful hands, traditional silversmithing techniques and time. Each piece is made specifically for the person who will wear it. We handle every keepsake with respect and care, because we understand what it represents.

This is slow jewellery. Thoughtful jewellery. Jewellery made with purpose. You can often find videos online of memorial jewellery being made in mere minutes and available to collect the same day, or within the week ... this is not us. Our specially formulated, jewellery grade resin takes, at minimum, 48 hours to set between layers - and there are multiple layers that make up your Precious MemoryStone.

Who is memorial jewellery for?

Anyone who remembers.
Anyone who loves.
Anyone who wants to keep a story close.

It might be:

• A parent
• A partner
• A child
• A friend
• A beloved pet

There’s no scale for grief.
Your connection matters.

Choosing the right memorial jewellery

When choosing memorial jewellery, think about:

• How you’ll wear it (daily or occasional)
• The style that feels most “you”
• What keepsake you want included
• Whether you prefer silver or gold

Your jewellery should feel natural to wear.
Not like something reserved for special days.

Jewellery To Remember

At its heart, memorial jewellery is simple.
It’s love, shaped into something you can hold.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what we need.
